Officials at Folkestone will stage an 8am inspection on Tuesday to assess the prospects of their Thursday fixture going ahead.

The going at the Kent venue is currently described as heavy, waterlogged in places having been hit by significant rainfall over the weekend.

With more rain forecast for Monday night, clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross has decided to announce an early inspection.

Racecourse manager Emma Santer said: "We are dry and sunny at the moment, but there is more rain forecast for tonight and we want to see how much arrives and where we stand in the morning.

"We are waterlogged in places at the moment, so it all depends on what happens with the weather today and tonight."
