Danny Tudhope

Hiddon Coin followed up a promising debut with a comfortable win at Redcar.

Fourth at Thirsk just over a fortnight ago, the Red Clubs gelding made just about all of the running under Danny Tudhope in the Follow Redcarracing On Facebook And Twitter Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Lucy Minaj made him work for the prize, but the David O’Meara-trained Hiddon Coin was always doing enough to win by three-quarters of a length as the 15-8 favourite.

“He was drawn in the middle at Thirsk and raced on his own and he didn’t really know what he was there for,” said O’Meara.

“Obviously he was a bit wiser today and I think the extra furlong has helped him, too.

“Although, saying that, I think he’d have won at five today.

“We’ve got 15 two-year-olds in, and the only other one we’ve run finished second.

“He’s up there with the best, but some are just a bit backward so it would be unfair to say he’s better than them.”
