Racing goes ahead at Exeter and Yarmouth this afternoon following course inspections.

The ground at Exeter is described as heavy and clerk of the course Barry Johnson said: “We had 20 millimetres of rain overnight, but it has been dry since 5am and it is given to stay dry now right through racing.

“It is heavy ground, we have taken out two fences and one hurdle and the groundstaff have moved over a mile of running rail to get over the worst of it – it’s been a massive effort.

“They will splash through a bit of water in places but it is perfectly safe.”

Meanwhile, following a dry night at the Norfolk venue, the Yarmouth track is described as heavy, soft in places.

Clerk of the course Richard Aldous said: “All is well. We were dry overnight and are just forecast light, patchy rain later this morning.

“There is a strong north-easterly wind and that seems to be blowing the rain away at the moment.”

There is also due to be a meeting at Lingfield this afternoon, with Sedgefield and Kempton staging evening meetings in the UK. Ballinrobe does likewise in Ireland.
