Wohler runs Black Arrow (William Buick), part-owned by Peruvian international footballer Claudio Pizarro.

The form of his Hanover win from Feuerblitz a month ago was given a big boost when the latter won the Italian Derby last week.

Wohler said: “Black Arrow is in very good form, but my other runner Sharivar [Ratislav Juracek] will also be very useful in time, but probably needs more experience.”

Schiergen saddles Lysino (Gaetan Masure) and Salon Soldier (Filip Minarik), with jockey bookings suggesting the latter is favoured.

“They both won well last time,” said the trainer. “But Black Arrow looks hard to beat, so we shall know where we stand after the race.”
