Richard Hannon is hoping Sir Prancealot can provide him with a fifth win in the last 10 years in Thursday’s Betfair Funds The PJA Doctor National Stakes at Sandown.

Hannon has sent out Monsieur Chevalier (2009), Icesolator (2008), Sweepstake (2007) and Presto Vento (2002) in recent years but came unstuck with a hot favourite last term.

Magic City was sent off the 10/11 market leader in 2011 but could finish only third behind Pyman’s Theory.

Recent Bath winner Sir Prancealot will be trying to right the record this time.

Hannon said: “We like Sir Prancealot and he has really settled down.

“He used to get on his toes and could get quite warm, but this past month his work has been very sharp, and we weren’t at all surprised that he won so well on his debut at Bath.

“Peter and Ross Doyle bought him for 140,000 euros at Goffs, and he is simply a lovely horse.

“He was very professional at Bath and has speed to burn, so, hopefully, if all goes well at Sandown he could then be bound for Royal Ascot,” he told

Sir Prancealot is one of nine declarations with Mark Johnston’s dual winner Storm Moon one of Sir Prancealot‘s main rivals.

Johnston also has Baileys Jubilee, who was a non-runner in Beverley’s Hilary Needler Trophy on Wednesday, while Effie B, Mosstang and Mossgo are other previous winners in the line-up.
