Society Rock is likely to head straight to Royal Ascot without another run following his good third in the Duke of York Stakes on Wednesday.

The James Fanshawe-trained sprinter returned to form in the Group Three at York when only half a length behind the winner, Tiddliwinks.

He is next due to be seen in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting on June 23.

Jacko Fanshawe, wife of the Newmarket handler, told www.jamesfanshawe.com: “Rocky (Society Rock) rather lost his way after winning the Group One Golden Jubilee last year and then a good second in the Prix Maurice’de Gheest.

“Everyone was relieved to see that he hadn’t fallen out of love with racing and was as keen as ever for a battle.

“He actually relishes a rough race and the more bumps he gets the angrier he gets. He is not a very big horse but he has a huge heart.

Promising starts

“At the moment the plan is to head straight to the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot where his record is two runs and a first and second.

“Fingers crossed that we have a smooth run with him.”

Stablemates Dimension and Captivator are also Royal Ascot-bound following promising starts to the season.

Captivator finished second in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, while Dimension also occupied the runner-up berth in a Lingfield handicap last Saturday.

Jacko Fanshawe said: “Dimension was a little unlucky and a shame he didn’t have a better draw, but looks extremely well after finishing second.

“The plan with him is to head to the Royal Hunt Cup, a race the yard has won twice before with Cesare and Macadamia, and one we would love to win again.

“Captivator finished second to Izzi Top in the Dahlia Stakes and the form was boosted when Izzi Top won the Group Two Middleton Stakes at York on Thursday.

“Captivator’s objective is the Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot.”
