Sir Henry Cecil has ridiculed claims Frankel could drop back in trip to face Australian superstar Black Caviar in a mouthwatering clash.

The pair are currently rated the best horses in the world and will both be in action at Royal Ascot.

Frankel is set to stay at a mile for the Queen Anne Stakes on Tuesday while Black Caviar runs over six furlongs in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on the closing day.

Hopes of a potential clash in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood were ended when the Australian mare wasn’t even entered for the contest and Cecil has no interest in facing her in a match race.

“People talk about Black Caviar and Frankel, but it’s stupid really – they are a different type of horse,” Cecil told Racing UK.

“One is a sprinter and one is a miler going on to a mile and a quarter. If you bring them together over six or seven furlongs it is like Usain Bolt, the runner, running in the London marathon.”
