Eton Rifles

Stuart Williams will continue to campaign Eton Rifles wherever conditions are suitable following his fine effort in France.

Cut in the ground is imperative for the seven-year-old son of Pivotal, who was fourth to Wizz Kid in the Group Two Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly on Sunday.

Although that race was over the minimum trip, Williams believes Eton Rifles is better over six furlongs.

“We were very pleased with the run and he’s come out of it well,” said the Newmarket trainer.

“(His plans) depend on the ground. He’ll only run on good or softer. We’ve got a number of options for him here and abroad in Listed and Group Three/Two races. We’re just dictated by the going.

“I’d much prefer to run him over six furlongs than the five, but we just haven’t had the ground for him over that distance so far this year.”
