Gale Force Ten stepped up on his Dundalk debut run to open his account in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at the Curragh.

Third three weeks ago, the Aidan O’Brien-trained youngster showed the benefit of that outing with a professional performance.

He gained the upper hand over Leitir Mor in the closing stages to condemn Jim Bolger’s colt to a third successive second place.

Gale Force Ten (7-2) got home by three-quarters of a length with Hard Yards staying on to claim third spot.

The winning trainer said: "We are delighted. The ground was a big worry and I’m pleasantly surprised he went on it.

"We always thought he was a fast horse. When our horses met the soft ground at Leopardstown on Friday, you saw what happened (put in disappointing performances).

"We think he might be a Royal Ascot horse and we will look at the Windsor Castle or Norfolk Stakes now."
