Hong Kong sprinter Joy And Fun is the latest to duck a potential clash with Black Caviar at Royal Ascot.

Connections of the nine-year-old feel it is pointless taking on the Australian wonder mare in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and will, instead, run in the King’s Stand Stakes.

“There is no point taking on Black Caviar,” trainer Derek Cruz’s son, Trevor, told www.racinguk.com.

“We’ve shown some relatively good form over five furlongs and Ascot is a stiff five. We should be competitive.”

Man Enough

Jeremy Gask is looking forward to running course specialist Medicean Man in the five-furlong showpiece on Tuesday week following an encouraging outing at Newmarket on Saturday.

The six-year-old booked his place in his first Group One by finishing third to Mirza at Headquarters.

“Medicean Man was caught without his preferred cover and travelled very well before just bottoming out up the rise to the finish,” Gask told www.horsesfirstracing.com.

“This was a pleasing effort and I am leaning towards running in the King’s Stand on the Tuesday with the likely option of backing up in the Wokingham also.

“It may look an ambitious plan, but he loves the five furlongs there and Saturday gave’me the encouragement to have a throw at the stumps.”
