Of the 64 non-runners so far, 56 are due to the ground. Catterick, doused by 14mm of rain overnight and further hit throughout the morning, has been worst affected with 19 withdrawals. There are 13 non-runners at Bath, ten at Goodwood, seven at Market Rasen, seven at Newmarket and five at Doncaster.
Trainer Tim Pitt (@Tim_Pitt) tweeted: “43 non runners today across the today’s meetings already and it is still not 10 am. #gottolove48hrdeclarations.”
It is not only Britain that has been affected by the weather as Leopardstown’s Saval Beg card faces a 1pm inspection. The going is soft to heavy, with further heavy rain forecast throughout the day.
It could be a similar story on Saturday, with five horses already withdrawn.
