Pearl Secret

Pearl Secret will next put his unbeaten record on the line in the Group One Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August.

David Barron‘s three-year-old had been hugely impressive twice at York and once at Doncaster before being stepped up in grade for the Scurry Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

Although the winning margin was only a neck, he overcame a wide draw and the testing conditions to win cosily and connections are now looking forward to testing the water at Group One level on the Knavesmire.

David Redvers, racing manager for owners Pearl Bloodstock, said: “All is fine with the horse this morning. He’s quite tired and knows he’s had a race, but that is exactly what we wanted.

“Everything about the performance was perfect. He is still on a learning curve but he was great in the paddock beforehand, did everything well on the track and the fact that he had a bit of a race is a positive.

“We know we’ve got the raw material for what could be a champion sprinter and we’re all very pleased with what he’s done so far.

“The plan now would be to give him a bit of a break and then build him up towards the Nunthorpe at York. That will most likely be his next race.”
