Greyville: Woolavington 2000 (Grade 1) 1m2f, 3yo fillies (3.40pm BST)
This is the fillies equivalent and six-length SA Oaks winner Ilha Bela (Mike’de Kock/Anton Marcus) is second-favourite for the Durban July and 1-2 for this.
De Kock, who won this with subsequent Durban July scorers Ipi Tombe and Igugu, said on the Tabonline website: “I believe I still have a bit to work with and what I’m looking to get out of this race is confidence. I believe she is a huge runner in the July but I also want her to run a huge race here.”
Bambina Stripes (Dennis Drier/Kevin Shea) narrowly beat Ilha Bela in the SA Fillies Classic and Drier said: “You can never be overconfident but she will be right there.”
Thunder Dance (Brett Crawford/Karis Teetan) won a Grade 1 over a furlong less in January but her preparation has been hindered by an infection in a hind leg.
Crawford said: “She has come on a lot since but it’s a question of whether she has come on enough.”
