Summer Concerts At The Racecourses.
Now we are in June, the summer concerts are starting at many of our big courses. There are lots of different names showcasing at many of the courses, and you’ll have to get your dancing shoes out if you want to boogie at many of the racecourses over the next few weeks.
Tom Jones is doing the usual rounds for the more mature ladies out there! This year, old Jones’y manages to get around to Hamilton Park, and Sandown Park Racecourse in July, Newmarket in August, but Newbury don’t seem to have managed to book him this year, so the Newbury ladies will just have to keep their knickers on this year!
Newmarket Racecourse hold the first meeting on the ‘July’ Course even though it is early June! But on the second day of this meeting, McFly headline the entertainment after the last race.
Mmm, that’s not exactly grabbing me by the goolies, and a small swerve to the bar may be in order on that one!
Market Rasen hold one of their – ‘Thank Frank its Friday’ meetings, with discounts on food, drink, race-cards and more. What the ‘more’ actually is, I don’t know, but we have to thank someone called ‘Frank’ apparently.
Goodwood start the first of – ‘Three Friday Nights‘ with racing, music and dancing that are on for the next three weeks. See the website for who is playing and when:- Click Here
Our friends across the Irish Sea at Leopardstown Racecourse start the first of their nine summer evening festivals, which start with racing and end with a live concert under cover in the big top.
This evenings pop rock band are the nicely named Bipolar Empire, supported by jangly pop band The Would Be’s. Unfortunately there is no sign of Tom Jones for all the ladies!
Doncaster start in the evening, for the first of a two day meeting, but with no music.
After all these meetings offering such differing music, like Dj’s, dancing, Bipolar Empire and McFly, one meeting comes from behind, and gets them all at the post……
Putting all that beautiful buildings and the baths aside, they hold the Ales Real Ale and Jazz Racenight.
Whilst I always love to do my ‘Prodigy party-piece’, copying Keith Flint in the ‘Firestarter’ video, I also like to try many local ales, beers, cider and wine whilst listening to some jazz, swing and blues after racing.
Heeey, that’s coooool!
