USA: Leading jockey John Velazquez was taken to hospital with unspecified shoulder injuries after a spill at Churchill Downs on Saturday night when one of his mounts broke down badly in the stretch.
Velazquez, who won the Belmont Stakes last weekend with Union Rags, was thrown into the dirt about 100 yards from the line when'Mr Producer broke down in the ninth race. The horse was put down.
Two more horses came down in the melee, one of which appeared to kick the New York-based rider while he was on the ground.
