The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Winners Since 2000
Here is a list of all winners of the Arc, currently the richest turf race for thoroughbreds in Europe with a total prize fund of €5,000,000 for the top finishers, and a big chunk, €2,857,000.23 going to the winner of what is labelled by most pundits as the top flat race of the year.
Horses mostly come from Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai, France, UK, and Germany to compete for the top turf trophy of the flat season. The race doesn't seem to attract many US or Australian horses for some reason, unlike the Dubai World Cup to which US horse flock to. I count the flat season to be from the Dubai World Cup at the end of March to the Longines Hong Kong Cup in early November.
I first fell in love with the Arc as it's commonly named when Ryan Moore won the Derby in record time (still not broken), on Workforce in 2010 and then played the same tactics in the Arc to win it later that year.
Since then I have had two wins on Treve, one on Golden Horn and two on Enable, although I won much more money by not just backing the evens favourite but just putting place bets on Waldgeist at 6/1 who came 4th and Cloth of Stars who also returned more money than getting the winner right at 2/1 just to place in the top 5 runners in 2019. I then picked Waldgeist to win the 2019 Arc and stop Enable having her third attempt at the Arc be successful on my birthday. Since then I won on Torqauator Tasso @ 80/1 in 2021 (see Recent Wins), and Alpinista @ 11/2 in 2022, that makes 9 wins for me on this race since 2010 making it my favourite race, and the one Group 1 race I seem best at picking winners for,
In 2020 Enable attempted to get a 3rd Arc victory but the 20 runners soon fell to 15 as the horse I thought would win on firm ground was pulled out of the race Love, along with others, then the day before the event, AP O'Brien had to pull his remaining 4 runners out of the race due to contaminated feed. This left only 11 runners racing on Heavy going. I LAID Enable who came 6th as I just didn't think her turn of foot would help on soft ground and as you can see from the time the race was almost 8 seconds slower than the race in 2019, which ran on "Very Soft" ground, itself being on average 5 seconds slower than previous races.
It was a good move as Dettori on her got boxed in with nowhere to go along with the 2nd favourite Stradivarius who followed her home and a stewards inquiry involving 6 horses was held, although the result stood. I also tipped the winner Scottass to place, obviously wishing I had now backed it on the nose, but that's the way it goes and the first 5 over the line were all from French trained runners.

And who got Torquator Tasso @ 80/1 last year -- ME, Waldgeist on my birthday 2019, Waldgeist to place @ 6/1 and Enable to win which was only about EVNS in 2018, another Enable, Golden Horn, two Treves and Workforce, Ryan Moore on board after winning the Derby on him in STILL the course record, a horse I never ever hear mentioned when commentators talk about Derby greats - he won by 7 lengths in 2:31.33 (Course record), came from the back to the front on home straight then 7 lengths past the pack, one of the best back to front in a home straight races I've ever seen and I have never heard it mentioned on Derby day???
